Voting is Such Sweet Sorrow

Or maybe I should say that voting is plain ole sad, at this point in the game.  Someone said the other day his vote would be for the “lesser evil” out of all of the prospective candidates, which will run for President.  I agree.

Of course I let my imagination have a run at it first and I came up with this idea.  Today’s politicians closely resemble the characters in William Shakespeare’s plays.  Take the play Hamlet, for example, where there is treachery, revenge, and moral corruption.  Wait, I almost forgot, and probable madness.

Where could you get a better politician, Congressman, Representative, or President than from an eclectic mix such as Hamlet?  Washington, DC makes the perfect background for the saga and it is prime picking if you want treachery, revenge, and moral corruption.  Yes, madness too!  Look at how they are devouring their fellow candidate/politician with insults, accusations, and threats.  Maybe if we sit back and watch they will consume each other until nothing is left.  And the curtain will fall, only to rise again with a fresh start! (Dreaming.)

Now, when Hamlet opens, a supposed noble ghost is telling Hamlet that he is his father.  The ghost tells Hamlet, he has been poisoned by Hamlet’s uncle.  Get this, the poison was poured into his ear.  For years these politicians and congressmen, have been pouring poison into American’s ears.  Only thing is that we did not die a quick death, no, we are heartier than that.  Instead, we are dying a slow death.  But I have to say, they have just about finished America off!

Let’s address the “madness” issue.  It is a toss-up of whom to hang that moniker on, Americans or politicians.  Are we not the ones who keep re-electing these idiots over and over again.  Believing their wide-eyed promises and pie in the sky dreams.  (I knew I should have started selling the swamp land in Nevada.)  Or are the politicians mad with power and greed to the point of selling out their own country?  It is a close call, maybe even a tie.

So, who are you going to vote for this next year.  Can they really make a difference or is it too late?  For myself, I am not sure.  And I don’t see hope rising in the sky, only the sun setting on what was once “The Most Powerful Country in the World”.
