What is Your New Year’s Resolution?

One meaning of the word resolution, in the dictionary, means a formal expression of opinion or intention made.  And I guess that is exactly what we do when we make our New Year’s resolutions.  It is our opinion about what we need to change and what action is required to accomplish this change.  Then we either state it out loud to friends and family or we write it down on a piece of paper for ourselves.

I believe people who resolve to read their bible in a year’s time have under taken a great task.  There are yearly bibles to help you stay on track, and bible studies to help you be accountable.  But I think it can be overwhelming for most, because of the amount of reading and the lack of understanding of the words that are written.  My solution is to go and find books written about each of the books in the bible.  This way it is throughly explained and I can pick which one is interesting to me.  I do not put a time constraint on my ability to understand either.  I finish when I finish without the pressure.  Because who learns anything under pressure and tension?

One resolution could be to find an interesting book explaining a book in the bible and to read it.  If you finish it before the year is up, you can go on to another one.  Set your sights on one thing at a time.  You will find the words “I did it” becoming part of your vocabulary this way.

Now, my resolutions usually have to do with me personally. I already read the informational books.  So, the next step is changing myself from the inside out. Because like God, I know the worst parts of myself.

Another simple resolution could be enjoying life more, loving more, and finding joy in the most awkward circumstances.

Resolutions can be accomplished if we remember to keep them in our own little world at first and as we progress we can venture out.  Like the pebble thrown into the middle of a pond.  The ripples start out right next to where the pebble went in and then they progress outward until they encompass the whole pond.

What about your resolutions?  I would love to read and post them for others to read.  You may enlighten someone’s day or even brighten it with your post!  Send me a comment!
