Sandy…Hope on the Horizon

John 16:33 is probably one of the more popular Christian verses, in the bible, about having troubles in life.  Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have troubles. But take heart! I have overcome this world!”

Speaking from the point of view of someone who knows what it is like to experience a natural disaster, you will come through. Jesus overcame this world for us, for you! And this world is just a blink of an eye and so are its’ troubles.

I know how looking around at what was your life, which you painstakingly built full of mementos, moments, and love; gone, can rip your heart from your chest.  But know, Sandy did not take you, your memories, or love away.  In Isaiah 43: 18-19 we are told by God, “Remember not the former things nor consider the things of old.  Behold, I am doing a  new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah says to me that it is time to put on your “visionary” glasses and watch the doors of opportunity swing open!  God is ready to do a new thing in your life and you must expose your heart to it! Grieve only for a moment to cleanse your soul of these new wounds and then remember you are God’s child and an American.  When things get tough, Americans get tougher! And when we collectively call upon God, we acquire His strength!

Below are some hopeful verses and thoughts to help sustain you during your difficulty.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare (good things) and not for evil, to give you a future of hope.”

When you can’t take another step forward to renewal.

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Ask God for His help! He can move mountains!

God Bless You!
