New Year’s Resolutions (Bah Humbug!)

Every year, I watch friends and family set themselves up for failure, for the next year of their lives! I, myself, have done it too. The culprit is those darn ole New Year’s Resolution lists we all seem to be pressured into making.

And, being true to our American upbringing, we ask too much of ourselves and others. Which ultimately brings about disappointment, depression, and personal dislike! So this year, I have figured out a way to turn a disastrous  tradition into a glorious next year.

You have to make a New Year’s Prayer list concerning you, and your immediate family. Write it down and place in your bible. Every morning take your prayer list out, read scripture, and then pray to God about the things you want for yourself and your family. If you are not sure where to start in scripture, I suggest the book of Psalms.

I bet you are saying, “Joni what if I want to lose weight or even win the lottery, do I ask God for those things too?”

My answer is absolutely!

Try putting it to God this way…

“Lord…Thank you for everything that you do for me and my family. I am truly grateful. Please forgive me of my sins and help me to be a better person each day.”

Then continue with your requests.

“Father…My weight has been an issue for a while now and I can not stick to a diet or exercise program.  Help me to discern food choices and snacking habits that are unhealthy, and show me how to find time to exercise.”

Or,

“Father…I really want to win the lottery. It would make my life perfect and think of all of the people I could help!”

Because, you might as well be honest with God. He knows the truth about all of us anyway. Just in case no one has every told you, God is a mind and heart reader! Knows all things, sees all things, and was here before the Universe began.

Now, once you have talked over your issues and desires, then move onto your kids, grandkids, spouses, parents, and parents-in-law.  Once finished with your prayer, put the list back in your bible for tomorrow.  Do this everyday for thirty days. Then review the past month and it might surprise you!

The Review Might Go…

Did God wave His wand and you won the lottery? Or did He show you the  “gifts” in your life mean more than a million dollars?

Did you find yourself eating a healthy sandwich and/or salad, instead of the fast food drive thru?

Are you turning your favorite music on every night and having a dance party for yourself and maybe the kids too?

Did a wayward child turn their life over to God?

Have the words “two becoming one” become the description for you and your spouse’s relationship?

Are your own desires and prayer requests changing?

You might be surprised at your answers to some of these questions.

It is amazing what God can accomplish in thirty days as compared to what we can accomplish.

You see, we make long lists of “to do” until we overwhelm ourselves into non-action (New Year’s Resolution list). Instead, we can give our wants and desires to God on a daily basis and allow Him to take us by the hand; and walk us through one baby step at a time! Instant action. {New Year’s Prayer List.}

Our human controlled lives are all about the “to do,” and our lives with God in control are “Tah Dah!”

Happy New Year! And may God bless you and your family in 2016 with all the “Tah Dahs” imaginable!

Poor Kids Want Xboxs Too!

This time of year brings back memories, when I would feel so frustrated at the Christmas lists from shelters and children’s organizations. My frustration stemmed from the fact that I could not help them all, but could only pick out a few things to cover.

And while the lists were being passed around, I would usually have to bite my tongue to keep it inside my mouth. Because, when the conversations turned to the items on the lists, the grumblings would start.

“An Xbox!”

“A Nintendo!”

It was almost like these good, helpful people were saying…

“How dare they ask for such a lavish gift?”

“Don’t they know they are poor?”

Trust me, the kids know they are poor! From the holes in their shoes, to wind whipping through their lightweight clothes. From having to go to the local library to do their homework on a free computer to, not being able to text their friends because they have no phone. From the grumblings of empty stomachs to the cold nights of no electricity. They know they are poor!

But they still dream and hope to be like other children.

For, it is not poor children’s fault their parents don’t work or have an abuse problem. It is not their fault they go to the shelter to get a warm meal. It is not their fault that America has come to blame the victims instead of the real problem!

To me, Christmas is the time to give our hope to others…especially the children!

Here is an amazing statement, from the One who knew the true value of children.

But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” (Matthew 19:14)

I have since learned that I cannot save the world or provide it with all of the hope it requires. But the world can save itself, if we were to all pull together!

So, how will you bless Jesus’ children this Christmas season?

No Boots on the Ground!

I know everyone thinks President Obama has lost the war on terror. I was one of those people; and no I did not vote for him, nor do I care for his politics.  But his war on terror might be a different story, now that my eyes have been opened!

Boots on the ground would mean verifying Islam’s apocalyptic vision. And this is as much a psychological war as a physical one.

The terrorists want boots on the ground to fulfill the prophecy and begin the further downfall of the West and our allies. Thus, launching their apocalypse.

The prophecy states… The Mahdi will be sent and with the help of Isa (Jesus), will battle Masih ad-Dajjal (anti-christ). To them Isa can be a group of people like themselves, to rid the world of the Masih ad-Dajjal. We, America, and our allies are seen as the Masih ad-Dajjal or anti-christ.

The beheading of an American journalist in Dabiq was another part of that prophecy. The battle between the West(us) and them will take place in Dabiq.

To further fuel Americans and get us to put “boots on the ground” this is what the terrorists had to say…

The militant says the killing took place in the town of Dabiq, adding: “Here we are burying the first American crusader in Dabiq, eagerly waiting for the remainder of your armies to arrive.”

I know this is hard for Americans. We offer tolerance and freedom to the world on our shores! Why would we be hated?

Power is behind the hate! Religion is the catalyst they utilize.  Because the country, who has domination over the most commodities of the world, and can use them as a control factor when dealing with other countries.

Power is a strange and intoxicating drug!

Another problem is America came into power and prestige by giving, instead of taking. And God blessed us.  A pretty envious  position, wouldn’t you say?

So, how can a country give, help, and want a better life for others? And still retain power and prestige? Because that is God’s way!

We must never forget God’s way and fall into the terrorist’s psychological traps. In the bible we are told, whether we agree with our government or not, we must follow our government.

I don’t agree with President Obama’s politics, but I do understand his war on terror. So, I will follow.

This does not mean I am giving up my 2nd amendment right and I will lie down to defeat! No, on the contrary.  I will use the intelligence and discernment which God has given me to be diligent every day.

And as a Christian American, I will step up my prayer life. I will pray without ceasing! And you should too. For in prayer we learn discernment and peace.

So, before you get upset over the media’s biased outbursts; GET THE FACTS!

Oh, I can hear you saying, “So, Joni do we sit back and be diligent to the terror in our own country and not have a plan of action concerning the terrorists overseas?”

I say this with great sadness, that in order to defeat the terrorist overseas, we may have to follow Senator Ted Cruz’s idea…

“In a Cruz administration, we would be using overwhelming air power and the Kurds as our boots on the ground, and it would be clear to any militant on the face of the earth, if you join and go ISIS, if you wage jihad against America, you’re signing your death warrant.”

Pray America! Pray!

As always…God Bless You and God Bless America!

The Time Has Come…

I want to start my blog by stating how sorry I am for those who lost their loved ones yesterday! My prayers for healing are with you and your families! May God hold you by His right hand and lead you through this time of sorrow!

The terrorist events yesterday were like the final trumpet sounding in the heavens. We are at war on American soil! And it is time for Americans to realize this fact.

After watching the morning news today, I felt like our Government officials in Washington had a mouth full of marsh-mellows. Garbling out the same political rhetoric over and over again.  It is time for them to please shut their mouths!

We, Americans, are tired of their blame game. So put on your big boy or girl pants and let’s get to work…together! There is no longer room for political correctness when fighting terrorism. And we can not be a nation of Republicans, Democrats, and Liberals; but Americans working toward one goal.

I believe there are tangible steps we need to take in order to over come our nation’s problems. Here are my suggestions…

  • First, be diligent in all we do and report anything we believe to be suspicious.
  • Next, it is imperative we clean up our own cities, towns, and states by addressing poverty and crime with workable solutions.
  • Third, our media should quit acting like they are the all knowing, truth purveyors. Because they are not! Think of the good our media could do with a simple attitude adjustment.

We should also remember when America was founded, we were the people other countries did not want in their land. We were the throw aways, the runts of the litter! But we came together and created a free America where ideals could thrive and grow.

We, the people, made America great!

And we did not use an instant, miracle cure-all pill or a wave of the magic wand either. We worked hard and when times got tough in America…Americans got tougher!

Whether you believe or not; I believe God was the center, grounding pole of America. He must be the center again or we will fail!

As always, God Bless You!
