Sundays Only? (or Not…)

Everyday, I enter my prayer closet with a million things swirling around in my head.  And I am so excited to talk to God and start my day with Him, that I am literally running on spiritual speed. So, the first thing I have to do is to slow myself down! I do this by reading over my bible verses which are taped to the wall.

My favorite bible verse is  Jeremiah 29:11-12.

Jeremiah 29:11 starts with, ” I know the plans I have for you.”

Now this is God, maker of the universe, stating He has plans me and my family! And then He goes on describing those plans.

“Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Wow, mental overload!

But it is verse 12 which overwhelms my heart. My eyes tear, and I get choked up trying to read it.

“Then you will call upon me, and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”

My heart is now BURSTING WITH HIS LOVE!

God, the great “I AM,” is going to listen to what I have to say.  Me, one little speck of formed dust, is important to the Alpha and the Omega. It is mind boggling!

You could not give me billions of dollars or super star status to take the place of my relationship with God and His love in my life. Not in this world or the next.

HE is my all and all!

So, why I am I sharing this with you? You say that you asked God into your heart years ago and go to church on Sundays?

Because I want you to know the miraculous love of a real relationship with Jesus Christ; 7 days a week, 24 hours a day! More importantly, God desires the same relationship with you! Not just on Sundays.

And here is the real kicker…Soon your world will be enough.  Enough money, enough house, enough status; enough of the worldly glitter and gold. And you will find yourself not being able to do enough to help others!

A life worthy of living and not just surviving.

So, how would someone start to have a relationship with God? Well, it does not happen over night, and it is work at first. Then, the relationship becomes second nature, like breathing in and out. You will find yourself turning to God for every decision, big and small, and begin seeing others as God sees them.

My suggestion would be to get a bible and find the bible verses concerning having a relationship with God. Write them down. Here are five to get you started.

  1. Phillippians 4:6-7
  2. 1 Peter 5:6-7
  3. John 14:27
  4. Psalm 34:17-19
  5. Isaiah 40:31

Find a quiet place to sit and start by reading over the bible verses.  Then talk to God like you would your best friend. Thank Him for every detail of your life, ask forgiveness of your sins and discuss everything pressing in your heart and mind. Then, and this is harder than you think…be quiet. Listen for God to speak to your heart.

You are God’s most precious child. He wants you to make Him your mentor and partner in this life and the next!

God is waiting right now on you. Don’t be late.

Try for 30 days and see the difference in your life. If you would like to tell me about your journey to God or send pictures showing where you meet with God; email me at joniberrydotcom@gmail.com.

As always…God Bless You and God Bless America!
