“Holy, holy, holy” in Isaiah, chapter 6, is a cry for revolution or change in Israel! It is a desperate howling to convince Israel to change their ways, before God leaves them to suffer the consequences of their choices.
When I read Isaiah today, I can still hear and feel the passion and pain of the cry. But it is not for Israel, it is for America. Because in this chapter, we are told that Israel will be laid to waste with only a stump left to replant the holy seed!
Isn’t America crashing down like a great oak laid low by the ax of her own consequences?
Hasn’t America turned a deaf ear towards God?
And hardened her heart toward God’s ways?
Yes, YEs, and YES!
We are not a family solid in our values, and loving one another despite our differences. America is a divided house of many factions. While our wealthy faction is trying to lay claim to the control of the American people. (By wealthy, I am not speaking of one political party either.) Our Democrat and Republican representatives have vested interests in the money machines, which are churning out the demise of the American people! Almost as if one group wants to devour another group, not caring about the results.
Can you feel the sadness?
And then we have the black and white factions who are living in the past. A past that neither had anything to do with and yet, they blame one another for it. Why can’t they focus on cultivating a better future for their children?
Warning Label: If you keep looking to the past, you will eventually become a pillar of salt!
Oh, I could sit here all day long naming and pointing out specific failures of America and Americans. Which is hurling us toward extinction as a country.
But, instead, I want to redirect your focus onto healing and reconciliation.
So, let’s cry HOLY, HOLY, HOLY! Fall to our knees and plead with God for healing of our land. Beg God for forgiveness and start putting Him first in all that we do; as individuals, families, organizations, jobs, and government!
Remember America began with a Revolutionary War and maybe it is time for a new revolution…HOLY, HOLY, HOLY!
God Bless You! And God Bless America!
Isaiah Chapter 6
6 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LordAlmighty.”
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
9 He said, “Go and tell this people:
“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.[a]
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”
11 Then I said, “For how long, Lord?”
And he answered:
“Until the cities lie ruined
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted
and the fields ruined and ravaged,
12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away
and the land is utterly forsaken.
13 And though a tenth remains in the land,
it will again be laid waste.
But as the terebinth and oak
leave stumps when they are cut down,
so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.”
