Since I have started the site One Retail Therapy and the blog Retail Annie, I decided to begin trying the products to make sure I want them on the site.  For me with chronic acute asthma, exercise can be difficult at times and all I can do is gentle yoga poses.  Well, with my 55th birthday coming up, I am over weight with high blood pressure and cholesterol.  Dropping 20 lbs would be ideal for me.  So I went to my IDEAL SHAPE AFFILIATE, and have started drinking their shakes.  They are yummy!

I have tried some of the other weight loss companies “craving buster” shakes and they literally gag me.  The overload of artificial sweetener taste lingered in my mouth. And, because of the amount of artificial sweetener they use, I ended up with stomach cramps. Which made my ulcerative colitis pretty mad.

Maybe I better back up and explain a few things.  For the past 25 years I have had an auto immune disease called Wegeners or GPA.  I was only diagnosed approximately 15 years ago.  This disease causes other diseases in your body to develop through inflammation.  So, I have chronic acute Asthma, Wegeners, Lupus, Ulcerative Colitis, and Arthritis in my hands and feet.  My nose structure is now one of my rib bones, built because of the deterioration of the tissue and bone, from before I was diagnosed. So I am not so sure about taking a before picture for you, but I will try to find the courage.

After hearing of the treatments for Wegeners, I decided to embark on my own path.  I now combine Western, Eastern, and Homeopathy, and it works for me. As you can imagine, trying anything new for me is always questionable. Which translates into I am even more skeptical than the skeptics!

When Ideal Shape became one of the stores on One Retail Therapy, I started reading and studying them. I like Lindsey and how she approaches weight loss and health.  The more I read from her, the more I am impressed.  So I finally decided to start with her shakes, figuring it would be the true test with just one taste for me.  To my own surprise they were delicious! And my ulcerative colitis even likes them.

I have started Ideal Shape’s program slowly, with one shake at lunch.  No hunger pangs or cravings of any kind.  When it is time for dinner, I have noticed that my portions are smaller and I am satisfied. Oh yes, the most important part, I am losing weight.

So if you are looking for a way to lose weight and start getting healthy again, I whole heartedly recommend Ideal Shape!

The New Journey

They say a journey begins with the first step, and yesterday I took a giant leap. Ten years ago I was diagnosed with Wegeners/GPA, asthma, and ulcerative colitis. I did some conventional treatment and some homeopathy; knowing there would come a day when I would have no choice but to engage in full treatment.

This day has now come.  A week ago, I was diagnosed with lupus and today, after a visit to an amazing Rheumatoid Doctor; another disease was added called SOB. Within the next two weeks, we will visit old biopsies, x-rays, and blood work to compare them to the new ones.  My doctor will then be sure of which treatment option and how aggressive.

I wish I could say that I was surprised, but I was not.  This past year had turn into a downhill run,  health wise.  I can say that I do not feel dread or fear, actually the opposite. My peace and hopefulness even had the doctor puzzled. Because she was feeling a little panicked over the situation. My doctor stated that she hopes she will have the same calm feelings after seeing the test results.

For now, God has given me the confidence which it will take to reclaim my health again. Have you ever felt like you were in the right place, at the right time, and it was all because of God? This is how I feel with my new doctor!

Looking back over the sickness, I have never once blamed God.  It is the world which has fallen, not God.  I know God knows my tears and the great sorrows of my life.  And my anguish is His anguish to help me bear.  Just like my joys are His joys for us to share!  I also know there waits for me an eternal life so amazing, so wonderful; the human brain can not comprehend.

If you are suffering with a chronic illness, an overwhelming loss, or depression, know this fact…Psalm 56:1   ” You (God) keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”

Please join me on this journey, as I blog along the way.  If you feel you need to unburden yourself, please email me prayer requests.  I would love to pray for you!  Know you are loved and God wants you to live a good life, shining your light into the world.

Resolutions…So, how ya doin?

How many New Year’s resolutions did you make?

You know, most of the time, we set ourselves up for failure.  We make too many resolutions and place our expectations too high for ourselves.  This year, we are going for total success!  Are you ready?

Pick one to two changes that you want to make in your life.  A good example is to exercise three times a week.  So, out of a total of seven days, three of those days you need to find time to exercise.  Start slow with three days for exercise and exercise 15 to 30 minutes each of those days. Now, you must continue this for at least two months, because you are trying to make it a habit. Once it becomes a habit, you have successfully kept your resolution.

Now you can start on something else.  Remember don’t make it an activity or change, that has to be done every single minute of every single day. Incorporate your family and friends to help you stay on track. Start small and work your way up…one success after another success.

Change is never easy for any of us, much less if we have family obligations too.  Don’t beat yourself up if you miss a day or get it all wrong.  The word fun should be your buzz word, not frustration!

My resolution is to start back exercising and eating right.  My body is demanding it!  At fifty, every part of me has surrendered to gravity and my energy level is E for exhaustion. This will not be an easy task and I will blog from time to time on my progress.  Because it is reassuring to know someone else is human too.

Grace and Blessings to You!

Say your prayers for you and me!

Here is a story to inspire you.

Cinnamon Death…

Parents, Grandparents, Religious Leaders, and Educators need to know about the “Cinnamon Challenge” that has gone viral on YouTube.  It may cost your child their life!

The challenge is to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon powder or try to swallow, without having any liquid for 60 seconds.

They say the effects are choking, breathing it back into your lungs, and coughing uncontrollably for 10 minutes.

Some of the other effects which are not mentioned…losing cosciousness, coma, suffocation, lungs collapsing, ventilator support, and even death.

Now, let us play devil’s advocate for a moment.  Cinnamon is a fine particle which can not be removed from the lungs once it has been sucked into them.  It will embed itself in the lining of the organ, that helps you to breathe the oxygen which sustains your life.  Also lack of oxygen can result in various levels of brain damage.  A once vibrant, college bound teen could find themselves bound in a wheelchair with someone having to completely care for them.  And what about the consequences we are now seeing from asbestos exposure.  The asbestos particles embed themselves in the lung and years later result in cancer.  Could the cinnamon particles, years down the road, cause such an irritant in the lungs which result into respiratory diseases or even cancer?  Time will tell.

But right now, we need to talk to our kids and remind them that this is just plain stupid!  I have always believed God will allow you to do stupid things which may kill you.  Remember our right to choose?  And then meet you at the pearly gates.
